The WLF Studio Payload+Astro Architecture

Payload + Astro are the best of both worlds. We treat the entire website like LEGO blocks assembled inside the CMS. This post is a live demo of what our Lexical editor can do and how the backend handles the heavy lifting.

Right now, our architecture is split into two very different parts to get the best of both worlds. The CMS lives on its own private server that we fully control, while the website itself lives on a modern cloud platform that’s extremely fast.

In this setup, Astro is basically "empty"- it just reads the Payload JSON schema and rebuilds the site page by page.

The LEGO Block Philosophy

By treating every section (Hero, Content, Footer) as a reusable block, we get a lightning-fast experience that is also super easy to manage.

1:1 Accuracy - What you see in the editor is exactly what you get on the live site.

Rich Text - In the Lexical editor, we can use bold, italicized, or underline key points with zero friction.

Deep Links - We can easily link to internal collections or external resources like our Admin Dashboard.
